Time to say goodbye at the Festival

As the 40th TRT April 23 Children’s Festival drew to a close, children of the world got a little upset about leaving Turkey.

The 40th TRT April 23 Children’s Festival concluded on April 25, 2018 with country performances at Nilüfer Municipality Square in the city of Bursa. Afterwards, guest children attended the Farewell Picnic organized for them on April 26. They enjoyed themselves as several games specific to Turkish children were practiced at the picnic in Sukaypark area. After having spent a happy and enjoyable day at the picnic, children of the world bid a sad farewell to their host families.


Children of the world in capital Ankara

Children of the world and their groups leaders arrived in Ankara for the welcoming ceremony by top state officials and to attend the Gala program of the 40th TRT April 23 International Children’s Festival.

On April 21, 2018, children and their leaders from 40 different nations were received by TRT Director General İbrahim Eren at TRT Headquarters.

On the morning of April 22, children first visited Anıtkabir, the eternal resting place of Great Leader Atatürk and then proceeded to the Ombudsman Institution. They were also received by Deputy Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Ahmet Aydın.

On the day of April 23, children were received first by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, and then President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Presidential Complex. Guest children celebrated the April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day during the Gala night at the Beştepe Culture and Congress Centre, enjoying themselves and having great fun.


Gala Spirits spread across Bursa

Children of the world who are in Bursa for the 40th TRT April 23 Children’s Festival, gave performances of their traditional dances at the gala of the event.

The 40th TRT April 23 Children’s Festival Gala took place at the TOFAŞ Sports Hall, with the participation of children from 40 countries. Guest children performed their shows to the accompaniment of their traditional music at the Gala, where Turkey took to the stage as the last act. After the Gala, TRT Children and Youth Folk Dances Ensemble performed a special show called “TÜRKİYEM”, which was well received by the audience.

Finally, all children appeared on the stage to sing songs, bringing the Gala night to an end, where Bursa Governor İzzettin Küçük, Bursa Mayor Alinur Aktaş and TRT Director General İbrahim Eren were also in attendance to share the joy of the children.


Country performances and concerts heighten festival spirits

Children of the world who are currently in Turkey to attend the 40th April 23 Children’s Festival, enlivened Bursa with various performances they displayed across the city.

Some of the guest countries performed their traditional shows in Bilecik, İnegöl, Mudanya and Yıldırım Square on April 17, 2018. Shows in Yıldırım Square and Bilecik were broadcast live on TRT.

Country performances also took place on April 18 in Merinos Square, after which guest and host children were treated to a pop concert by Turkish singer Edis.

Children of the World attend Festival Parade

Children of the world who arrived in Turkey to attend the 40th TRT April 23 International Children’s Festival, joined the Festival Parade after having been received by officials in Bursa on April 16.

Guest children were received by Bursa Governor İzzettin Küçük and Mayor of Bursa Municipality Alinur Aktaş at Bursa Tayyare Culture Centre. After the ceremony, guest children attended the Festival Parade. Children were dressed in their traditional costumes and waved held-hand flags of their own countries during the Parade that began at Tophane Square and concluded at Bursa Governor’s Office.

In the aftermath of the parade, children from Mongolia, the Seychelles, Colombia, Ukraine and Bangladesh performed their shows, which were followed by a concert by award-winning Turkish singer Sertab Erener.


April 23 Photo Exhibit in Bursa

The exhibit that features a number of photographs depicting the history of April 23 has opened at Bursa Tayyare Culture Centre on April 15, 2018.

Governor of Bursa İzzettin Küçük, Deputy Mayor of Bursa Municipality Şükrü Köse and TRT officials attended the inauguration of “The History of April 23 in Photographs” Exhibit.

Guest children and their team leaders from Iraq, Hungary and Uganda were also in attendance at the ceremony. The exhibit will be open to visits through April 16-27, 2018 at Tayyare Culture Centre.
